Chantecaille Real Skin Foundation in Vibrant

Chantecaille Real Skin Foundation in Vibrant

Hey guys!
I've never tried anything from the branch Chantecaille, because it is very expensive and not so easily accessible here (if you know where I can buy their products from please recommend). My sister gave me this compact foundation because it was too dark for her (I am the darkest in my family - my sisters being the same colour as Jacq). I'm not a huge fan of compact foundation because I find them generally too cakey and hard to apply, but I was seriously surprised at how good this product worked for me.

First, I just want to touch on the packaging. I like the shiny, mirror compact. It's not heavy, although it looks it, and it's quite a good size, which is great for popping in your bag when you want to touch up during the day. I like that it comes in a purple little satchel, which is cute, not a lot of brands do that. The inside of the compact, basically, you lift the lid and there is the cream foundation along with a mirror, then you lift that up and below is where the sponge applicator is stored, along with another good mirror.

New Additions - Real Techniques Brushes

New Additions - Real Techniques Brushes

Hey guys!
It's no secret that I am a huge fan of RT brushes. I only use their brushes, apart from a few Mac eyeshadow brushes. I think the quality is amazing and there is a reason why almost every beauty blogger owns a few! Here are a few new additions to my brush collection.

I picked up the Blush Brush and Face Expert Brush. I personally use the Blush Brush as a powder brush because I have a small face and usually powder brushes are huge! This brush is perfect sized for me, and I like the dome-like shape which makes it easier to set powder under your eyes. It's also great at blending out your contour too in the event it appears too harsh, but in general I use this as a powder brush and it does a great job for me. I find if you push the powder gently onto the skin with this brush, it works better instead of fanning your whole face with it. I use this brush to set my Chanel Powder (see review here). The Face Expert Brush has attracted so much attention for being an all-rounder amazing brush. I use this to blend out any face product. I dab my concealer on, add dots of my foundation, add my cream base to my eyes, add my cream contour and literally with this brush I blend it all out. I then use this to add my powder contour because I like how it's quite flat which gives it a great shape to contour your cheeks with. This is my only used foundation brush. I think the one that came in the core collection is great too but I personally love the shape of this brush. I find that it is more easier to work with, and it literally blends everything together so well - I hardly use anything else. Put it this way - I bought the beauty blender recently and it's lying unopened because I literally can't apply my foundation without this brush.

Any RT brushes you recommend?

Recent Purchases

Recent Purchases

Hey guys!
I'm trying to be sensible with my money and save, which doesn't seem to be happening for me, but recently I have been purchasing a few of my essentials, and some non-essential, random stuff, so I thought to share them with you.
I got this sweet dreams wall sticker off ebay (see link here) for around £2. I think this is an absolute bargain and I wanted something on my walls, something cute and homely. My wall has some weird scrapy bits - when I use to put up posters of my revision notes and then I ripped them off and took some wall paint with it...ooops. But that aside, I think it looks pretty neat and I like the little butterflies too. I plan to buy a Marilyn Monroe quote to put over my makeup dressing table - something about beauty that will inspire me =)

Skincare
My sister's best friend just recently came back from Paris so I asked for a bottle of Bioderma. This was around £7 there which is cheap as chips - although chips are not £7! I do like this as a second cleanser. I feel like it puts a soft bounce back into your skin, something I will definitely be needing in the winter seasons, so I thought it was best to stock up now. Boots Cold Cream is my favourite makeup remover now. It's a really thick cream, so I apply a thick layer all over my face, then massage this all in like you would with the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser, and then with a face wipe or cotton pad, I wipe it all off. It honestly removes the toughest mascara, it leaves your skin very moisturised after and not sore. I think this again is perfect for the approaching Winter seasons, and it's so quick and easy at removing your makeup before you pop into bed. I decided to purchase the Kleenex facial clothes to use with the cold cream - so I'll let you know how I get on with this. I then picked up the Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser which I have been using over 2 weeks now and I'm not a huge fan. I wanted a daily face wash and cleanser in one, this seems to be that, but it hasn't been working well for my skin. It was great to use when the weather was boiling because my face felt very calm and cold after, but it rally does dry my skin out, so I think this is better suited for oily skin types. Lastly, I picked up the Nivea Day Cream which my best friend has been using for years. I decided to give it a shot and it honestly does the job. It makes my face appear more glowing, I apply my foundation straight after and it gives such a nice balance to my face. I've used many expensive creams before but this one is a great every day one for those on a budget.

Haircare
Since my hair has been brutally damaged from my Ombre, I have started to commit to hair masks and looking after my hair. I used no heat on my hair for a full week, kept my hair curly and every day I would add some oil to it. I literally soaked my hair in the oil for the whole week, and then the next week is was super shiny that everyone thought I had cut my hair fresh. I've been using Jasmine Oil which is great at thickening the hair, and raw coconut oil. The Raw Coconut Oil comes in a thick solid form, so take a spoon out and heat it in the microwave for literally 20 seconds or more - dependent on how solid it is. I think coconut oil works better when it is heated anyway. I then apply this to my hair, wrap my hair in a towel for around a couple hours, then wash my hair. I advise doing an oil treatment twice a month, not too much because it can clog you scalp which can make it very itchy. I now try to go curly once a week - to avoid heat and soak my hair with oil at the same time. I lastly picked up my all time favourite hairspray from L'Oreal - it honestly holds my curls and brushes out easily.

Perfume

I am not a huge perfume person. I'm in fact allergic to perfume, allergic in the sense that it gives me a migraine followed by vomiting sessions. Anything strong is likely to pass me out. But, recently I read you are 35% more attractive when wearing perfume so I decided to give it a try since avoiding it for so many years. I'm very particular with smells, I want to smells unique in comparison to everyone else, and something that kinda suits my personality. I've noticed a lot of girls wear the same perfume, which can be annoying. Say you want a guy to fall in love with you and he smells your perfume on someone else, he might fall in love with her too! So, I decided to pick something I haven't smelt on another person for a while and that was Lancome La Vie est Belle. It's a very sweet perfume, that is strong so I literally only spray it once on the back of my coat and once in my big hair. I literally do not spray for the next couple days. I love this perfume and I am sure it will successfully help me capture a husband soon =)

Milky Nude lips with Pupa

Milky Nude lips with Pupa

Hey guys!

I love a nude lip. I think we all do secretly, whether we do it right or not. I am always on the hunt for a new nude lipstick or lip combo. A lip combo is combining colours or products together which help achieve that perfect nude lip. Sometimes it can look harsh, so you need to go that little bit extra just to perfect the look!

Milky nude is a nude which is extremely light. Almost ghost-like but if done well, it looks good.  I like milky nude lips because it gives off an innocent, young girl vibe...which I am duh!!!! To achieve this look I used a Pupa lipstick (see brand here) which Jacq gave me a swap some time ago. I love this lipstick because it's super moisturising with a glossy finish, which is perfect for the milky look. It's also quite sheer so it doesn't end up looking too harsh on your lips. Because it's sheer, your natural lip colour seeps through to make it look more human than ghost-like. I think when doing a milky nude lip, try to stay away from mattes, or top up with a lipgloss to make it look less harsh. You don't want to look dead so add a bit of life back to it. I team this lipstick with a brown tone lip pencil from NYX, because I'm Asian I want the lipstick to blend well with my brown skin. But, before doing all of that, make sure you moisturise your lips well with a lip balm - my favourite is the Burt's Bees
When did I discover Milky nude lips?

Duh of course from the Gyaru queen Tsubasa Masukwaka who has the best milky lips in the world! Her's are a bit more extreme than mine, I think where she is practically white, she can go lighter with her lips. I personally can't do that with my skintone, or I'll just end up looking washed out and dead. Tsubasa has her own line of makeup called Candy Doll. I own one of her lipglosses (again thank you Jacq) which is a milky peach colour. She also owns Dolly Wink...ring any bells??? My all time favourite liquid liner is from Dolly Wink and she also specialises in falsies which I am (and I think Jacq is also) a fan of. I think you can easily use a liquid concealer, and a peach, pink or brown tone lipgloss on top to bring it back to life. I personally don't like concealer on my lips cos it never stays! It just bleeds through so I prefer using a sheer, milky lipstick just to prevent it from looking harsh, and to allow my natural lip colour to add some life back to the look too. Below is how I got on.

Urban Decay Tinted Moisturizer in Bodyguard

Urban Decay Tinted Moisturizer in Bodyguard

Hey guys,
Now that there is a heatwave in London (yes please stay we hardly get a summer) it's time to stock up on heatproof makeup! I am loving the Urban Decay Tinted moisturiser which I bagged at a recent bloggers meet (I say recent but I'm unsure how recent it was). I've never personally tried any UD skin/base products, I tend to stick more to their eyeshadows or eye makeup products - so this was something new and fun to try out.

This is a tiny bottle (as you can see in comparison to my head) so I'm assuming this is a travel size or sample size. First on the packaging, I really like the pump applicator, I find them to be more hygienic and less hassle. The design of the bottle I'm not too cray cray for. I dunno it just doesn't look high-end to me, and I personally like things to look simple and elegant, this is maybe too street for me LOL. On to the product, I love the consistency of the tinted moisturiser. A small dab blends out so much so you definitely get your moneys worth. It's more liquid than I assumed a tinted moisturiser to be, which I prefer. It's almost like a foundation consistency whereas tinted moisturisers are slightly thicker and airy. In terms of colour, I think Bodyguard is maybe a little too light for me. I do need to bronze a little heavy just to bring some colour back to my face, and also because of Summer - I have tanned a lot. I like that this product is Paraben free - I pretend to know what that means but I assume it means less harsh chemicals? Correct me if I'm wrong. I also am happy that this has SPF 20 which is perfect for the Summer but I think you need a bit more SPF in our weather now. I stick to Missha BB cream (see review here) on super boiling days because it has more SPF, but this is great for Summer days too. Also the low SPF, compared to Missha that is, means the better for flash photography. As you can see from the pictures above, it does give slight a flashback but not as much as a product that has intense SPF, so I guess you could wear this in the evenings too - just make sure to powder a little on top.

Overall quite impressed. What's you'r fav tinted moisturiser?

Deodrant

Deodrant

I need to have a little rant on my deodorant experience. Now, if you don't know already, I am a sweaty person. Since having laser done under my arms, it made me super sweaty and so I need a deodorant that keeps me dry all day. It doesn't help that I work in a stressful environment, meeting clients and constantly in meetings, I need to smell clean at least! My favourite deodorant is the Sure Maximum Protection because it honestly smells clean, and keeps me super dry all day, no matter how hot it is outside, my underarms are sweat free. So, I finished my favourite deodorant and decided to go out and buy another one, in my accidental hurry I picked up one that looked almost identical but belonged to Dove. Getting home, I realised my mistake and tried to return this, to which Superdrugs replied "no refunds". Hence why I have decided never to shop at Superdrugs ever again - the bastards! I decided to give Dove a go, and it did nothing for me, I was sweaty within a few hours, it didn't smell that great and it honestly was nothing on the level of Sure. After a week of weird looks from my work colleagues, I decided to go to Boots and buy the Sure one and I have not looked back since. The dove one is ready to be thrown in the bin, whereas the Sure is the clear winner! Don't make my mistake guys, and shame on you Dove for copying Sure.
Other bits

Last bits were toothpaste and bodyscrub. I have been using the Pearl Drops and my friends at work have noticed my teeth getting whiter and whiter. It's always good when people realise the results before you, so I decided to go out and buy another one! Everyone wants a hollywood white smile right? I then picked up my favourite bodyscrub which is the Soap and Glory Flake Away. It is pricey - around the £7 region I think (can't remember now) but it's honestly my favourite bodyscrub which is constantly stolen by my sisters, so this one I plan to hold on to for a while!
